The indoor training season has started and we’re kicking off with a new direct drive trainer: the FLUX S Smart. This upgraded version of the FLUX has a better ride feel and improved bike compatibility. Read on to learn more about this improved version of its iconic predecessor.

One of the most asked questions about the FLUX is why this direct drive trainer isn’t compatible with long cage derailleurs. We’ve listened to your feedback and sent our designers back to the drawing board. By changing the external design and, more specifically, lowering the foot, they were able to create more space for the derailleur cage, so the FLUX S Smart is now compatible with these tall gear-shifting mechanisms. This has no influence on the steady design: it is still very well balanced and ensures maximum stability even when you give it your all during the most explosive sprints.

To improve the power measurement, we’ve redesigned the internal mechanics of the FLUX S Smart as well. The trainer is reliable, accurate and consistent and calculates your power accurately within 3%. As you know, this is key to keep track of your performance and progress during your training. The internal upgrade, where the tensioner has become firmer causing a more direct transmission, together with the heavy flywheel of 7 kg (15.4 lbs), improved the ride feel significantly. And to make your neighbours happy, it is designed to bring vibrations and noise levels to the absolute minimum, resulting in the most silent flywheel equipped bike trainer available.

By designing the FLUX S Smart, we created an accessible direct drive trainer offering all Smart functionalities. It connects wirelessly via ANT+ (FE-C) and Bluetooth Smart in an instant to your favourite applications like the Tacx Desktop app, Zwift, TrainerRoad and so on. And just like the FLUX, this bike trainer has intuitive LEDs on the side to show when the trainer is powered and connected to a device over ANT+ or Bluetooth. Don’t want to connect to any training app? No problem! The smart electronics of the FLUX S Smart also allow you to train in stand-alone mode without any software connections. The resistance of this trainer follows a progressive power curve, just like cycling on a flat road. So, when you speed up, the resistance will increase.

By using the free Tacx Utility app, you can easily update the firmware to the latest version so that you can always make use of the latest improvements and features. You’ll get notified when an update is available.

And to make this indoor trainer even more attractive, we’ve lowered the price to €599! Visit our website for more information.
